Introduction
 
Our recruitment services are provided through Nelson Wheeler Executive Search Limited ("NWES") and NWES specialises in sourcing candidates for the accounting and financial sectors of the business community.
 
Search Process
 
Although each recruitment engagement is unique, a typical search would be processed as follows:
 
  • Initial understanding of the engagement

    We meet with the client to understand the job specifications and overall requirements. During this initial meeting we gain an understanding of the client's business objectives, corporate culture, requirements of the position, compensation package, etc.
 
 
  • Search plan

    Based on our understanding of the recruitment engagement, we develop a search strategy that is likely to result in the identification of the qualified candidates. We will advertise and draw on extensive contacts, experience on past and similar engagements to identify potential candidates.
 
  • Candidate interviews
 
    • Initial Interview

      We arrange initial interviews with candidates to assess their qualifications and career aspirations. Our interviews are time-consuming yet thorough, with a view to matching our client's requirements with the candidate's skills and attributes.

    • Candidate Profile

      We conduct confidential reference checks on candidates and we only select relevant referees who are capable of giving objective assessments on the competence of each candidate. Based on this information and our initial interviews we are able to prepare candidate profiles for our client.

    • Prepare candidates for client interview

      We will thoroughly brief all candidates on the position and the client's organisation before the interview.

    • Client interview

      We provide a checklist of candidates, together with detailed candidate profiles, for the final client interviews. The interviews generally take place at the client's office. Following these interviews we discuss the results of the interviews and help the client as necessary in finalising the selection of the candidate.
 
  • Finalisation
 
    • Compensation negotiation

      The objective of the compensation negotiation is to determine a compensation package that is mutually beneficial to the client and candidate. Our knowledge in the job market and industry will assist the client and the candidate to achieve this objective. We also assist in preparing the formal documentation.
 
  • Post recruitment review

    Our involvement with the client and the successful candidate does not end after the placement of the candidate. We initiate calls to the client and successful candidate to confirm the candidate has settled in to the new working environment.

  Eugene Liu
   
 

Eugene began his career with Arthur Andersen & Company and was seconded to Beijing between 1993-94. He joined PricewaterhouseCoopers as a senior audit manager in 1997 and was promoted to partner in 1998. Eugene has extensive experience in providing auditing and financial advisory services to many multinational clients in a variety of industries. Eugene also gained valuable experience in recruiting executives for his clients during his time with his former employers. Eugene joined RSM Nelson Wheeler on 1 January 2000 as a partner and heads the executive recruitment function of the firm. Eugene is a graduate of The University of Manitoba, Canada where he earned a degree in Commerce. He also obtained his Master degree in Business Administration from the University of Oregon in the United States. He is a qualified accountant in both Hong Kong and the United States.
