Our Partner, Mr. Ronald Yam, was invited by Ms. Andrea Li of South China Morning Post (SCMP) to comment on consolidating back-office services, known as “shared service centres”.
Other than cost reduction, Mr. Yam emphasized how shared service centres operating in low cost regions could achieve operational efficiency such as streamlined business process, which in turn enhances services provided to customers. He also mentioned difficulties like coordinating different cultures and business units should also be attended to during consolidation.

Our Partner and Head of Transaction Advisory Services, Mr. Eugene Liu, was invited by Mr. Euan McKirdy of South China Morning Post (SCMP) to comment on mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in China.
Mr. Liu regarded the emerging privately-owned enterprises and private equity firms are the induce factors for the increasing outbound M&A activities in China. He further expressed resources and industrial technology-intensive fields are most favored by the Chinese investors. On the other hand, he pointed out some challenges investors might face for these ongoing M&A such as official approval from the central government and post-deal integration.
